Most farmers in Cambodia face a persistent challenge when it comes to irrigation.
Contiguous rice paddies and orchards are often located far from towns and villages, beyond the reach of grid electricity. For a long time, local irrigation has relied heavily on diesel water pumps. With fluctuating fuel prices, plus labor costs for fuel transportation and equipment operation, irrigation expenses surge sharply during peak water demand in the dry season. Worse still, prolonged overcast or rainy days can leave pure solar-powered pumps unable to deliver sufficient water, causing missed watering schedules and direct losses to crop yields.
Recently, one of our Cambodian customers purchased the HANDURO HD-4/6SSC65-40-530-4000-A/D AC/DC dual-purpose solar deep well pump to address these exact pain points. Paired with 8 units of 580W solar panels to form a complete irrigation system, the pump is dedicated to water supply for their contiguous rice fields.
This model was selected precisely because it fits the actual farming conditions in Cambodia.With a rated power of 4kW and supported by 8 solar panels, it runs entirely on solar energy during daylight with sufficient sunlight — no fuel costs, no grid connection required. The whole system can be set up directly on open land beside the fields, making it fully functional even in remote plots. Most critically, its AC/DC dual-purpose design fills the gap left by pure solar pumps: on overcast days with weak sunlight, or when supplementary watering is needed at night, it can seamlessly switch to grid power mode to maintain steady water supply, ensuring no disruption to farming schedules.Boasting a maximum flow rate of 65m³/h, the pump can irrigate large stretches of rice fields efficiently without long waiting times. Its maximum head of 40 meters easily covers fields with gentle slopes, delivering even water distribution to avoid insufficient irrigation on higher ground and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Compared with the diesel water pumps commonly used locally, this system saves more than just fuel costs. Without the complex structure of a combustion engine, it requires minimal routine maintenance — no frequent fuel line overhauls or frequent part replacements. It is straightforward to operate, and ordinary farmers can master it with the user manual, with no need for dedicated on-site technicians.
